Electronic map of minerals of Yakutia
Experts from Geological Information Fund of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) developed the first electronic map of minerals, which was developing for several years: from 2008 to 2012. When working on the objects developers used the geological map in 2006.
Cartographers note that these maps were previously focused exclusively on printing. Now a detailed electronic version of the map depicts over 20,000 minerals of Yakutia.
At the same time, was released a printed map of scale 1:1 500 000, but it has about 3000 major occurrences and deposits. But it’s quite difficult to depict all natural wealth of the region on a paper map.
According to the developers, in future the electronic map will be updated and become more detailed.
It was originally planned to create an interactive map with graphic materials and characteristics of objects. However, local authorities said the project was too costly and decided to refuse from it.
