The topographic map set of Qatar contains Persian Gulf maps, Aba-el-Baul River maps, Doha maps, Al-Hor maps, Al-Yassasiya maps, Al-Dakhira maps and Palm Island maps.
Qatar is a country situated on the Qatar Peninsula, which shoots out into the Persian Gulf in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula. Qatar is washed by the waters of the Persian Gulf on three sides. The peninsula is about 160 km long and from 55 to 80 km wide. In the south, Qatar borders on Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The total area of the country is 11,440 sq km.
Relief. Qatar's relief is represented by a flat area in the west, mountainous terrain in the north and a desert in the south-east. Almost all of the country's territory is a stony desert and its highest place is only 40 m above the sea level. The highest point is Aba-el-Baul (105 m).
Rivers and Lakes. There are no rivers, creeks or lakes in Qatar. However there are ground waters which come to the surface as springs in oases.
Sightseeing. Doha (or Ad-Doura) is the capital of Qatar and the country's largest business and trade center, which has an airport and a sea port.
Al-Hor is one of the oldest seaside cities in Qatar. There are excellent beaches, an ancient tower and beautiful mosks here. Al-Hor also has its own ancient sea port.
Al-Yassasiya is an area of rocky hills, which tower over the north-eastern coast of the country. This place is famous for its splendid beaches.
The unbelievable Island of mangroves is found in Al-Dakhira. This island is a small forest which grows in salt water.
The Palm Island is a beautiful small man-made island which has an area of only 25,000 sq m; it is also a place of great interest. It is located in the middle of the Gulf of Doha. There is an inland sea here, called Khor Al Yudeid.
Climate. Qatar has a dry tropical continental climate. Summer temperatures exceed +45°С, while winter temperatures (December to March) range from +15 to +25°С. The country annually receives up to 125 mm of precipitation.
