Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro. Situated at the confluence of five rivers in the valley of Lake Skadar, the city lies in fertile lowlands with favorable climatic conditions. Podgorica’s major sights include the ruins of a 15-century Turkish fortress, a number of picturesque houses built in the 17th – 19th centuries, as well as modern residential quarters and public buildings.
The old capital of Montenegro, Cetinje, is a more picturesque city, a true museum city founded in the 13th century.
Ulcinj is the southernmost town in Montenegro and one of the oldest cities in the country.
Town of Herceg Novi is one of the most famous resorts in the country, located at the entrance to the Kotor (Boko-Kotor) Bay and on the slopes of Mount Orien.
The small neighboring town of Igalo, which also lies at the foot of Mount Orien, is well-known throughout Europe as a center of health tourism and home to the Simo Milosevic Institute of Physical Therapy and Prevention as well as a number health and recreation facilities.
The Bay of Kotor (Boko-Kotor) is the biggest and most beautiful fjord of the Mediterranean, which cuts into the mainland for 28 kilometers.

On the banks of the Boko-Kotor Bay, there are such popular attractions as the small picturesque towns of Perast and Risan, the Lushitsa Peninsula, “The Isle of the Dead” and the artificial island Bogoroditsk-Shkrpela with a unique church.
The tiny town of Perast is the best-preserved historic town on the entire Adriatic coast of former Yugoslavia, with structures built in Baroque style.
Budva is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities on Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, which is situated in the central part of the coast.
Not far from Budva lies St. Nicholas Island, which is called the “Hawaii” by the locals. It is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Montenegro.

The whimsically indented coastline from Budva to Petrovac has a wealth of cozy bays, neighborhoods filled with street cafes and small shops, dozens of small resort towns, islands and beaches considered gorgeous by the Mediterranean standards, such as well-known beaches in Becici, Slavenska Plage, Mogren, Jaz, Kralichina Plage (Queen’s Beach), a 13-mile beach in Ulcinj, and other nice places.
The town of Sveti Stefan, one of the most popular resorts in the country, is scattered on a small peninsula 9 km from Budva. It is a small medieval town built on a small rocky island, now a Mecca of exclusive tourism.

In Montenegro, there are a number of ski centers, such as Durmitor, Kopaonik, Kolasin, Zabljak and Bjelasica-Ezerine. Equipped with modern ski lifts and hotels, these resorts offer tourists daytime and nighttime skiing trails of varying difficulty and length for an unforgettable vacation.
In the interseasonal period the landscapes that used to be covered with snow are transformed into exciting marked trails for hiking or mountain biking tours, which can lead tourists to the dazzling beauty of its spectacular mountain lakes, such as Black Lake. In addition to hiking, climbing is also an extremely popular activity in the mountains.
Beaches in Montenegro are very diverse. Most of them (Zhanits, Budva, Sveti Stefan, Njivice and Sutomore) are pebble beaches. In the cities, there are artificial beaches made as concrete platforms, most notable of which are Tivat, Herceg Novi, Bar and Igalo. Fine sand can be found on a 14-kilometer long sandy beach between Ulcinj and Ada Bojana, which is also called Ulcinj Riviera, or Velika Beach.
