Paratroopers will be presented with a SNE with the function of topographic electronic maps download

In 2012 the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation will receive a great gift – an updated SNE. This abbreviation denotes nothing more than Satellite Navigation Equipment.

Now the paratroopers will be able to better navigate the terrain and evaluate the situation, because the modern SNE will support the function of topographic electronic maps download.

It should be noted that military equipment and new weapons with built-in SNE were introduced to the military forces in 2010, but the function of electronic maps download wasn’t available. The equipment that has long been working with the paratroopers for the good of the homeland did not have any of those advanced functions, so last year its active modernization started. Nowadays the outdated equipment is replaced by the modern GLONASS sets.

With the help of this system and detailed maps of the terrain the paratroopers will be able to better orientate themselves and get ready for managing the artillery fire.
