Telenav improves navigation software Scout

A leading developer of mobile GPS applications, Telenav company, plans by the end of 2013 to add in Scout for Phones more maps with three-dimensional images of buildings and landmarks. In addition, it updates user interface and improves options of data display of road traffic. It is expected that updates of the Scout will be available for Android and iPhone.

Maps with 3D-models will be developed using the technology of Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), which is widely used when creating graphics and realistic game play. According to experts, it will help to inscribe three-dimensional objects on the maps of major cities and provide an intuitive user orientation in unfamiliar area.

The company representative also noted that the changes will affect the interface. For convenience, road congestion will be broadcast within a 20 km route. Especially for the iPhone-version vector drawing will be spelled, thanks to which you can download maps faster, thus they will look more realistic.
