Facebook plans to buy Waze
The world's largest social network Facebook is negotiating about purchasing Waze. This is a navigation application for mobile devices designed to show GPS maps and broadcast real-time information about the traffic situation. The company provides its services free of charge and, among other things, allows you to run routes, to warn other people about the changes on the road (police stations, obstacles, traffic jams, etc.), as well as one can chat with other users on the map. All charts on the resource Waze are created by users. According to preliminary data, the estimated cost of the application is $1 billion.
To date, Waze is one of the most popular GPS navigation applications. According to experts, the number of users of the resource is 40 million people around the world. Due to the fact that the service can be used as a basis for other mobile applications, the company was able to gain a foothold in the market of GPS-navigation and online maps.
Representatives of Facebook now refuse to comment on the details of the transaction.
