GLONASS equips Moscow public transport with navigation equipment

According to information provided by GLONASS press service, by the beginning of 2013 passenger transport in Moscow will be equipped with cameras and navigation-connected terminals GLONASS / GPS as a part of integrated traffic management system. The system concept is based on two principles - management of the city public transport and management of the traffic environment. A single control center will organize the activities of Intelligent Transport System.

It is planned that during the current year about 8000 of the Moscow municipal transport units will be equipped with navigators and DVRs. Experts say that it will improve the quality and increase the safety of passenger transport. As well as it will increase the capacity of the transport system of the capital. Currently more than 4 thousand vehicles are equipped with GLONASS equipment.

Record from DVR will be transmitted to the control room and the Internet. In the future, Moscow citizens will be able to see the timetable of the city transport on their own phone.
