Unsuccessful update of Google Maps

Most recently, the map of Moscow by Google Maps has been updated. Contrary to the expectations of users and developers, this has led to a deterioration of the quality of satellite images. Apparently, some of the images were made in the night.

Compared to previous versions now Moscow satellite maps have low contrast. In some cases it’s almost impossible to recognize the buildings of some areas of the capital. On gray maps even the center of Moscow is not depicted correctly. It is difficult to find many attractions, i.e. skyscrapers of Moscow State University, or St. Basil's Cathedral. To be fair it should be noted that the maps of some areas, including Strogino, South Butovo and Bibirevo are of good quality.

A detailed study of maps shows that some pictures are taken in winter, and others - in summer. And the combination of images is poorly performed.

A Google spokesperson said that the company knows about these problems, and now experts are working to fix them.
