Google Inc. has acquired the Israeli project Waze

After months of rumors Google spokesman confirmed the purchase of Israeli start-up Waze. The deal amounted to $ 1.3 billion.

Waze company was founded in 2008 and it develops eponymous social navigation application for mobile phones based on Windows Mobile, Symbian, Android, iOS, BlackBerry. The program allows you to monitor the situation on the roads in real time, report others about the changes and obstacles on the road, choose better routes, etc.

Waze maps are available free of charge and their main difference is that they are created by users. Unlike other similar services, Waze provides the ability to communicate with other users on the map.

According to experts, Waze will be a valuable asset for such a giant like Google. During its short existence an Israeli startup has stir-growing community of users and has become a great example of the interaction of the Internet audience in the fight against congestion.

In the near future, Waze maps will be supplemented with qualitative search from Google, and Google maps - with relevant information from the user community Waze.

According to official data, in the foreseeable future, Waze team will work in the usual way in Israel.
