Continental is to provide solutions for car telematics
Manufacturer of equipment for vehicles – Continental - presented multifunctional smartphone terminal (MFST) designed for better integration of smart phones in the car. The system integrates wireless charging of smartphones battery, wireless communication between the antennas and the near field communication (NFC). A key advantage of the system is that none of the above functions does not require connection of the phone with the car.
The system will be put into production in 2015.
The system works with wireless charging standard Qi. Continental believes that this standard is ideal for use in automobiles. It is enough that it offers the current of charging the same as via USB, and the same time of charging, what is required when charging via cable. Many smart phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, S4 and S3, LG G2 and Nokia Lumia 1020, 925, 820 and 720 can easily be retrofitted by simply replacing the wireless charging back cover lid compatible with Qi.
Continental is also working to support other wireless charging standards, such as PMA or A4WP.
